The Architectural Engineering and Construction Management Department (AECM) invites applications for faculty positions (PhD holders: Assistant/Associate/Professor) with ample quality teaching, excellent research record and preferably with industrial experience in the following areas:                                                                       

1. Building Systems Engineering

  • Building Mechanical/ Indoor Environmental Systems:  Visual Comfort, Buildings Retrofitting, Healthy Buildings, Building Envelope, HVAC Design, acoustics, noise control, and Plumbing Systems.
  • Building Electrical and Sustainable Energy Systems: Illumination, Renewable Energy Technologies (RET), Low current systems, energy demand management and economics, fire alarm systems.
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) / Sustainable Facilities:  high performance buildings, Building Rating Systems (LEED/ BREEAM, ... etc.), SCADA and PLC systems, Intelligent Security Systems, Safety and Hazard Management.
  • Construction and Innovative Building Materials: Biodegradable/ Biomimicry-inspired Material, Building Insulation Material (thermal/acoustical/fire resistant), Self-healing/ Self-Sensing/Phase Change Materials, Building Construction Systems, C&D Waste, Construction Carbon-Capturing, Additive Manufacturing.

2. Construction Automation:

      • Modern Methods of Construction (MMC): Soft Computing and predictive modeling (Cost estimation, Risks and Scheduling), Block Chain Applications, Productivity and modular construction, BIM & Lean Construction. 
      • Construction Autonomous Systems: Cranes Operations, Autonomous Vehicles (Earth moving/ Aerial), Path Planning, Agent-based models and Systems Dynamics, and Remote Sensing.
      • Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Systems: Wearable Sensors, Safety hazard identification/recognition, Construction documentation (e.g., As-Built quality compliance, materials tracking and distribution, project cash flow … etc.), Construction education / XR immersive technologies

       

      3. Engineering / Project Management: Project Leadership, Knowledge Management, Real Estate Management, Project Control and Resource Optimization, Health and Safety Management, Manufacturing Systems (Quality, Maintenance, Reliability and Risk Management), Supply Chain Design, Procurement and Contracting, GHG Management, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
